Nu Age Café
2425 Exposition Blvd. “We feature ‘fusion’ cuisine, adapting fine-dining from different cultures,” says owner, Kwan Wong. Wong reports that the restaurant’s most popular dish is the Soy Cashew Sauté, which is a colorful medley of vegetables and cashews that is served with brown rice. The Nu Age Café specializes in creative, Asian-inspired cuisine that features fresh and flavorful dishes such as Papaya Passion Salad, Beijing Seitan, house specialty Yam and Yucca Fries, and tempting desserts like Hazelnut Napoleon and homemade Pineapple Sorbet. A comprehensive beverage list includes fresh fruit and vegetable juices, coffees, teas, herbal infusions, and frothy “fusions” that are made with fruit and either soy milk or coconut milk. Wong says that diners at Nu Age Café—whether they are seasoned vegans or are just experimenting with a meatless meal—are often surprised by the abundance and variety on the menu. Others are attracted by the tranquil atmosphere, the $6.99 daily lunch specials, and the 10 percent senior-citizen discount. “Nu Age is not just a different dining experience,” Wong says. “Everything from the energy to the ambiance—Nu Age redefines culinary creativity, evolving the dining experience.”
