Saturn Café
Santa Cruz, CA 831-429-8505 SaturnCafé.com Hours Sunday to Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday to Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 4 a.m. Review by Tamara Murphy: The Saturn Café in downtown Santa Cruz, with its offbeat décor and tasty vegan and vegetarian fare, is a favorite of locals and a happy discovery for tourists. Diners seated at tables decorated with Elvis memorabilia and other unusual themes can choose among Saturn Café’s eight different veggie burgers, “chicken” patties, and fresh, homemade soups, salads, hummus and tabouli—and much more! Amanda Topp, longtime Saturn Café customer, says, “Some days I make the 30-to 45-minute drive from my house just to get some of their famous soy taquitos. They are so crunchy, with the perfect amount of guacamole and salsa. The hibiscus juice is delicious, and the desserts are to die for. Each night there is a vegan pie special, which is always scrumptious. There are so many dishes to choose from that you could go there every night for a month and never have to get the same thing twice. I go there with my meat-eating friends, and they love the food too!” Another Saturn Café fan, Ethan Brown, says, “I love the Saturn Café because the atmosphere is terrific, the food is always tasty, and the service is out of this world! I'm not a vegetarian, but the tasty meat-free foods at the Saturn leave my stomach full and my animal conscience clear.” |
