No Fish! Go Fish!
Portland, OR 97214 503-235-5378 NoFishGoFish.com Hours Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday to Sunday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. We think the fish-shaped, fish-free sandwiches at No Fish! Go Fish! in Portland are the best things since sliced bread! Sean and John, the restaurant’s co-owners, told us that their No Fish! Sandwich was inspired by the traditional fish-shaped Korean pastry pung ap bang. Loosely translated, pung ap bang means “fish bread with no fish.” Sean and John brought the idea back to America, developed their own bread recipe, and filled their “fishies” with everything from refried beans with pico de gallo and curried vegetables to apples and cinnamon. Several of the sandwiches are vegan. No Fish! Go Fish! also offers a variety of fresh soups—both sweet (such as the summertime favorite, chilled watermelon and blackberry) and savory (carrot and ginger, sopa de frijoles, potato and roasted corn)—as well as vegan options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Diners on the run can also grab a No Fish! sandwich and soup at one of No Fish! Go Fish!’s downtown pushcarts, located at Fifth and Main, Fifth and Yamhill, and Fourth and Main. The next time you’re in Portland, be sure to add a visit to No Fish! Go Fish! to your “must-do” list. In the meantime, you can enjoy these delicious No Fish! dishes in your own kitchen. |
