Wrap It Up at Garden Grille Café

While enjoying Rhode Island’s summertime festivities—arts-and-crafts shows, baseball games, garden tours, and classic-car shows—both tourists and locals flock to Pawtucket’s Garden Grille Café and Juice Bar. When the temperature soars, the Garden Grille’s cool vegan lineup of salads, wraps, and pizzas is just what your taste buds crave.

If you are too busy sightseeing to sit down, grab a fruity Caribé Cooler or Kauai Kiss smoothie. The Crazy smoothie with peanut butter, banana, and chocolate soy milk is delicious, too. Don’t forget to pick up some delicious vegan goodies, cookies, cake, or banana bread to go.

If you can stay for lunch or dinner, try the Southwest Spring Wrap, which includes lettuce, tomato, cabbage, celery, red peppers, noodles, and spicy peanut sauce. The grilled soy “chicken” strips with hot “kangaroo” sauce and a side of wood-grilled sweet potatoes is a big lunchtime hit.

The grilled-vegetable sandwiches are perennial favorites. Eggplant, mushrooms, zucchini, and peppers are wood-grilled to perfection and served on thick country bread. The Garden Griller Bella veggie burger comes with arugula, portobello mushrooms, onions, and pesto sauce. Pizza Bella comes topped with soy mozzarella, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, grilled onions, and artichoke hearts.

The café’s dinner menu is elegant enough to dress up for. The delectable Walnut Encrusted Tofu is served with carrot-sage sauce, grilled asparagus, and quinoa salad. The Morrocan Spiced Tempeh Napoleon—layers of tempeh grilled with spinach, corn, and pepper salad—is well complemented with creamy carrot-parsley slaw.

Whether you dine outside on the patio or inside in the air-conditioning, you’re in for a unique experience. Next time you are in Rhode Island, drop by the Garden Grill Café.
