Take the Earth Voice Food Choice Challenge!
Todd Winant, the mind behind Earth Voice Food Choice, had an epiphany while surfing in garbage-filled waters: We're destroying the environment, and action needs to be taken now! Diet plays a big part in environmental destruction; a 2006 report by the United Nations stated that raising animals for food is "one of the top two or three most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems, at every scale from local to global." Everything from air pollution and water shortage to land degradation and climate change can be tied to animal agriculture. What better way is there to help the environment than by educating children who can carry better eating habits into adulthood?
Earth Voice Food Choice educates students and food-service workers about the problems that poor diets cause, including health and environmental issues. It teaches students about healthier food choices, eating an organic plant-based diet, and cutting down on processed and animal-based foods.
The program shows people not only how easy a plant-based diet can be but also how it is a simple solution to many of the environmental and health problems in the United States. Earth Voice Food Choice walks students and teachers through the steps to add more of these options to their school's menu. The manual suggests various vegetarian and vegan food options, provides recipes for schools, and gives tips for promoting the new options to students. It has been used with success among K-12 schools and universities across the country.
Take the Earth Voice Food Choice challenge and get healthy, plant-based options into your or your child's school.
